FAQs

Where should I park for my workshop at Terra Creative Collective?

We recommend street parking. There are parking spots along Langland and Knowlton. Most spots are free, but as you get closer to Hamilton Ave, please note that the spots have meters. Click here for more information about how to enter the studio.

What is metal clay?

Metal clay is pure metal particles mixed with organic binders and water. The hydrated clay is a pliable, moldable, flexible medium that can be worked with your fingers and tools to create extremely detailed art jewelry. When the metal clay is dried, the water evaporates, and when it is fired the binders burn off, leaving pure silver, gold, or bronze.

How do I pick up my finished pieces after a workshop?

Your work will be ready for pickup 14 days after your workshop. Pieces are carefully dried, fired twice, and packaged for you. You may pick up your work during any Open Studio hours. If you prefer to receive your work in the mail, we are happy to ship it to you for a fee of $10.

Oops! I can’t make it to a class I registered for. Do you offer refunds?

We are so sorry you can not make it — we will miss you! We do not offer refunds, however, we understand life happens and we would still love to see you in the studio when you are able! Please contact us to transfer your booking to another date.

Is there an age requirement for attending workshops at Terra?

Attendees must be at least 14 years old to attend our adult classes. If an artist who is 14-17 years old wishes to attend an adult workshop, please plan to attend the workshop with an adult. We also offer workshops tailored to younger artists. Please join our mailing list for our most up to date offerings.

Are materials included in the class fee?

Yes, all materials needed for the class are included in the workshop fee. You do not need to purchase or bring anything, though some participants have a specific vision for a project and choose to bring some specific textures or materials from home.

Do I need to take an Introduction workshop before registering for an Advanced Metal Clay Workshop?

We strongly recommend taking one of our Introduction to Metal Clay workshops before registering for an advanced workshop. If you are having trouble finding an intro workshop to fit into your schedule, please contact us and we will see what we can do!

After taking one of our Intro classes, you can register for any and all of the advanced workshops that you choose. It is like a giant, delicious, creative buffet!

Can I bring food and drinks to Terra?

Absolutely! Please note that we keep our food and clay work surfaces separate to prevent contaminating our workspace (or your food). We encourage you to bring water to your workshop, as there is not a water cooler at the studio. We have a designated BYOB Open Studio each week if that is your vibe.

How did you chose the name “TERRA” for the studio?

We love that “terra” relates to the metal elements in our favorite material, as well as the ground that ceramics clay originates from (we hope to expand to offer ceramics workshops in the near future). Terra also means returning to solid ground after a rough sea voyage, symbolizing strength, stability and growth. We hope to be a safe and rooted place for everyone in our community!
